About Israel
If you believe that Jesus lived and died in Jerusalem, you are bound
to be exited about walking along the Via Dolorosa, visiting the site
of Golgatha, and peeking in Jesus's grave. But more sceptical minds
might get bothered by the fact that some of the Jesus sites are
palin rip-offs. There are actually four alledgded graves where Jesus
was buried. There is a dent in a wall where Jesus alledgedly leaned
against the wall, etc. The main thing is not to take things too
seriously and just enjoy the beautiful city.
The Western or wailing wall as some call it is the holiest place in
the jewish world. It is believed to be the last relic of the last
temple. The jewish people come here to pray. One side is reserved
for female devotees and the other side for the male. As a custom,
people who go here write their wish in a small piece of paper and
leave this in the small crevice of the walls.
One of the most controversial cities in the world has not lost its
magic during the restless years. An incredible city where you can
spend weeks just walking around and absorbing the ancient
atmosphere. Sit by the Western Wall and watch people come and go,
walk around in the maze of Old Town, have a tasty falafel in one of
the numerous stalls... |
